Rosacea Treatment
What is it?
Rosacea treatment is a medical procedure used to address the symptoms and visible effects of rosacea, a chronic skin condition characterized by facial redness, flushing, visible blood vessels, and sometimes papules and pustules (acne-like lesions). The primary goal of rosacea treatment is to target and reduce the visible blood vessels (telangiectasia), inflammation and redness associated with rosacea, as well as to stimulate collagen production to improve skin strength, texture and overall appearance.
How does it interact with skin?
Various light energy wavelengths target certain colors (or chromophores), such as oxyhaemoglobin within the blood vessels. When the light finds its target color, the light is absorbed and turns to heat (similarly to a black car in the sun). When the target in the skin is heated and coagulated, your body absorbs the unwanted target and removes blemishes, pigmentation or veins you don’t want.
What’s the downtime?
After the treatment you may experience some redness or swelling that will diminish after a few hours.
How many treatments are needed?
Multiple sessions are often required for optimal results depending on how severe the patient’s rosacea is, and maintenance treatments may be needed to manage rosacea over time
