PRP Under Eye Therapy

PRP Under Eye Therapy

What is it?

PRP Under Eye therapy, or Platelet-Rich Plasma for dark circles, is a non-surgical medical procedure aimed at promoting collagen stimulation within the thin layers of the orbital tissue to strengthen the appearance of dark circles. It involves the use of a patient’s own blood, specifically the plasma component to stimulate collagen for cell growth and renewal for stronger, more youthful skin.

How does it interact with skin?

Once the PRP is prepared, it is injected directly into the patient’s under eye area where dark circles occur. The injections are typically performed with a fine needle or cannula, and the PRP is distributed across the targeted area. The growth factors within the PRP solution stimulate the collagen cells within the skin, encouraging them to become more active. This can lead to thicker, healthier, and stronger skin, helping the visibility of darkness and tiredness.

What’s the downtime?

After the PRP injections, you may experience some mild to moderate discomfort at the injection sites. Swelling and puffy under eyes is normal and can last anywhere between 24-72 hours post treatment. Discomfort is usually brief and can often be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers if needed. Your healthcare provider may advise you to avoid washing your face for the first 24 to after the procedure to allow the PRP to take effect. After that, you can resume your regular routine. Avoid strenuous activity for 24 to 48 hours post treatment.

How many treatments are needed?

PRP hair restoration often involves a series of 3-4 treatment sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. Each patient’s desired outcome will affect how many treatments they need.
