Hyaluronidase
What is it?
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that plays a crucial role in maintaining skin elasticity, joint lubrication, and eye health. Hyaluronic acid is commonly used in cosmetic procedures and medical treatments, including dermal fillers, as it can be injected to add volume and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. In some cases, however, there may be a need to reverse or adjust the effects of hyaluronic acid fillers, and this is where hyaluronidase comes into play.
How does it interact with skin?
When hyaluronidase is injected into the treatment area, it breaks down the hyaluronic dermal filler that is unable to be fully metabolized by the body.
What’s the downtime?
This treatment can be quite painful, however very effective. Results occur within 24-48 hours and can continue to be active for up to two weeks.
How many treatments are needed?
The majority of patients will require only one session, however, multiple treatments may be required for ‘higher viscosity’ HA fillers.
Treatment Cost
$200
But also depends on how much Hyaluronidase is being used on the area.
